Places to Propose in Malibu
There are so many gorgeous locations to propose in Malibu. Today, we are going to go over our 7 Best Places To Propose In Malibu if you are looking or the perfect proposal idea.
Beach
The very first location that comes to mind for the perfect Malibu proposal location is the beach. If you want a proposal that is truly “Malibu” then having a nice picnic setup on the beach could be the perfect proposal idea. Point Dume State Beach and El Matador are popular beach locations. But if you purchase our Malibu picnic package here, we will also tell you our favorite hidden gem beach location that we recommend for proposals.
Boat
Renting a boat or better a yacht is another great Malibu proposal idea. Imagine proposing on a boat with Malibu as your backdrop…epic! And this is a less traditional proposal idea for Malibu so it could be really cool.
Cliffs
Another proposal idea giving major Malibu Vibes is proposing on a cliff overlooking the gorgeous Pacific Ocean. A picnic would be great here as well as a romantic table set up like the one we did for our client below. Contact our Malibu Proposal Planners for even more ideas on what can be done on a cliff! An ocean view may be the first thing you think of when you are planning your Malibu proposal. But a gorgeous outlook with views of the hills and mountains can be just as impressive. Check out the proposal we planned here for a client who said their partner is the first person to show them unconditional love.
Park
If you are wanting to propose amongst nature, consider proposing in a Malibu park. Tapia Park and Malibu Creek State Park are great options.
Malibu Pier
If you want something very historical and iconic, proposing on Malibu Pier is a great idea. You can propose on the pier itself and they even allow you to rent space. Or you can propose on the beach with the pier in the background.
Proposal Tips for a Malibu Proposal
With over a decade of Proposal Planning experience, we know all the pro’s and con’s with proposing in Malibu. So today, we want to share our best tips with you that you can use them if you are planning a proposal in Malibu. Trust me, this is going to save you a lot of headaches.
Check the Tide
One of the biggest risks to proposing in Malibu is that the beaches there are susceptible to a high tide. If you aren’t sure what that means in general or how that could impact your proposal, allow me to explain. If a beach is narrow, like El Matador is, then a proposal at high tide could be catastrophic. A high tide means that the water level is at its highest point and the beach is mostly covered in water. That means there wouldn’t be any beach to set up on or your setup could get swept away. Here’s a pro tip, you can Google “Malibu tide on (date)” and you can find out if your desired date and time is during low or high tide.
Check If You Need A Permit
Beaches in Malibu typically do require a permit if you want any elaborate setup. Make sure you do your research so that you don’t get in any trouble. Or better yet, hire our Malibu Proposal Planners and we will take care of all of that for you.
Think About Parking & Stairs
If you plan on having decorations for your proposal, you are absolutely going to want to think about the parking situation. Some beaches in Malibu have terrible parking and if you are going to be hauling an arch or marry me letters to the beach, you need to have a place to park or off-load. And possibly even more important, you need to think about stairs. There are some beaches in Malibu that have a lot of stairs which can be a very big problem for someone to load-in certain types of decorations. Also, if you plan on inviting any elderly guests, that can make it very difficult for them.
Prepare for Traffic
Malibu is a gorgeous location for a proposal. One negative thing about it though is that there is only one way in and one way out, and that is Pacific Coast Highway. This is a 2 lane highway and it is almost always crowded. You are going to want to give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.
