When it comes to a proposal idea in Hawaii, most people think the same thing…Beach proposal! But what you might not know is that technically you really can’t legally set up much on a beach in Hawaii. All beaches in Hawaii are public and they take great pride in ensuring the beaches are always open and available to the people. But don’t worry, there are actually so many other places and ways to propose in Hawaii. And that is why we are so excited to share a proposal with you today that might not be what comes to mind when you think of Hawaii. Read all about this Oahu Marriage Proposal.
The Backstory
We were so excited when Barry came to The Heart Bandits to help him plan his Oahu marriage proposal. Before I give you the backstory, do you know one of the biggest reasons people hire a Proposal Planner? It’s because they are planning on proposing in a city they don’t actually live in. And that is exactly why Barry reached out to us. He lived in New Zealand so he felt like he was going to need some help putting things together for his special proposal to Julia.
Barry hired us for our Gold Package which is where we create proposal concepts for the client to choose from. To start the proposal idea creation, we send our questionnaire that we use to get to know details about the couple. Through this questionnaire, we learned some details about their relationship that we later used to turn into a proposal concept. We learned that Barry owned a construction company and Julia was the account manager for the company mobile phones. He was due an upgrade so they met in person and he said he knew she was the one the first time he saw her.
Their first date was at a restaurant and they both shared a love for Bruno Mars. In fact, that was one of the concerts that they saw together and they absolutely loved the show. We also learned that Julia LOVED flowers, specifically pink and red roses. Most importantly, we learned that Barry’s goal, like most men, was to make Julia feel amazingly special and to express his love for her. As you can see from the photo above….mission accomplished.
The Planning
Barry wanted a private proposal and since they shared their first date in a restaurant, we sought out to find a very romantic restaurant that had a private room. We found a lovely restaurant that was happy to host our proposal and with its stunning views, it was perfect. We got everyone involved in on the proposal; the manager, the host, and the waiter. Next, we got started securing all of the vendors. We found a string quartet that could play all of the best Bruno Mars songs, an amazing photographer, and a florist that could flawlessly execute all of the proposal floral decor we needed. Read below for how the proposal all went down.
The Proposal
Barry and Julia showed up for their dinner reservation and enjoyed a lovely meal. Once their meal was complete, the waiter (who of course was in on the whole thing) offered to take them on a tour of their gorgeous property. At the end of the tour, they were escorted to a private room where Julia got the surprise of her lifetime.
The first thing she saw when she walked in was red and pink hearts made of rose petals. There were gorgeous columns displaying stunning floral arrangements all around the room. As Barry brought her in the room, a string quartet began playing “Marry You” by Bruno Mars. Barry proposed and Julia of course said yes. The string quartet continued to play Bruno songs as the photographer started to take portraits. We couldn’t be more happy to have been a part of their special moment. Congrats Julia and Barry! We wish you a lifetime of happiness.
