Ways to Celebrate After a Marriage Proposal

When I think back on the day I got engaged, I remember it fondly.  Marvin took me on a sunset cruise in Marina Del Rey.  He waited until the perfect moment and then he invited me to walk out to the deck of the boat with him.  The stars were out, the weather was perfect, and he dropped to his knee and proposed to me with my dream ring. It was the best moment ever and one of the perfect proposal ideas I have heard of.  And then…..we went back to my tiny apartment and went to sleep.

When people think about how to propose, they often just think about the proposal idea only up to the part that they pop the question. Many times they don’t bother to think about what to do after they propose. Now, I know what you’re thinking.  You’re thinking, “Wait, I have to plan something AFTER the proposal?  I already have to make sure I get the right ring, come up with a thoughtful proposal idea, pray I don’t mess all of that up, and now I have to do more?” And to that I say, you don’t HAVE to do it, but I do highly recommend you plan something after you propose.  And the reason is because getting proposed to is one of the most special moments of your entire lifetime and it is a moment that your partner is not going to want to end.  After the proposal, they will be on the highest of highs, so it is a good idea to plan something after to keep the high going.  Below are some ways to celebrate after a marriage proposal:

Champagne and Desserts

This is the simplest way to celebrate. Nothing says something good has happened than a bottle of bubbly. Mix champagne with some desserts like strawberries or cupcakes and you have the perfect way to celebrate your engagement.  You can have these at the proposal location or sent to your hotel or home post-proposal. Easy, affordable, and impactful.

Dinner Reservations

Another very simple idea that is the perfect way to celebrate your proposal is to make a nice dinner reservation.  It could be at a restaurant that has significance to your relationship, a place you’ve always wanted to try, or a spot that is known as the nicest or most romantic restaurant in the area.  Expert Tip: When you make the reservation, tell the restaurant staff that you will have just proposed to your partner before the dinner.  Sometimes they will give you a special table or even provide you a complimentary bottle of Champagne!

Photo Shoot

We always recommend having a photographer for your proposal. For the proposal itself, your photographer may remain discreet up until you propose. After you propose however, is a time when you can do all kinds of fun, celebratory poses.  Feel free to do all of the instagrammable poses your little heart desires….after all…. this is your moment.  Go outside on the city streets and take fun pictures in crosswalks and next to landmarks.  This allows you to continue feeling those exhilarating proposal feelings. It also gets you some great photos that can later be used for your wedding date announcements, on your wedding, and of course, all over your social media.

Decorate

If you are proposing away from home, order one of our Proposal Packages and have a decorator come to your hotel room to decorate it for your proposal celebration. If you aren’t staying at a hotel, no problem.  We can also decorate your home with rose petals, candles, framed photos of the two of you, and more.

After Party with Friends and Family

Now this is an advanced and costly idea, but if you really want to celebrate your engagement, you can have an after-party. This can be at the proposal location, a restaurant, a hip lounge or bar, or even at your house. Have your friends and family waiting at this location so they can officially greet and congratulate you. Or if they are going to surprise your partner at the proposal venue, work with your Proposal Planner to make sure they arrive at the right time, post-proposal.  Trust me, it will be a great feeling and everyone will cheer you on.

Weekend Getaway

For the ultimate proposal celebration, you can always celebrate with a weekend getaway before you announce your engagement. This will give you time to reflect on your proposal and to look forward to your future life together before sharing the news with the world.

It’s best to have your proposal idea planned from the beginning to the end.
