The Couple

Lauren and Stephanie met in high school. They went to competing high schools and competed against each other in track and field. They ended up at the same college and quickly became very good friends. Soon enough, their friendship turned into love. Lauren contacted us because she wanted to propose on their upcoming trip to Key West. She wanted her proposal to be private, and of course, very special and personalized.

The Proposal Idea

Once a client hires us for our custom proposal planning services, the first thing we do is interview them to learn important details about their partner and their relationship.  One thing that stood out to us about this couple is their love of travel and their dreams of traveling in the future. Also, we learned that Stephanie loves the beach and sunflowers.  Our team got to work and created the perfect proposal idea.  The concept we created was called “See The World” and our vision was to create a circular arch representing the globe.  Then, on the way to the beautiful backdrop, we would place framed photos of the couple on their travels.  Attached to the circular arch would be a yellow neon sign to finish off the theme.  Lauren loved the concept and we got started finding the perfect private venue and vendors for this magical proposal.

The Proposal

The day of the proposal started off like any other vacation day.  But eventually, Lauren lead Stephanie to our secret, private proposal location.  As they crossed the bridge, Stephanie could see that something amazing was about to happen.  Lauren walked Stephanie over to their private space overlooking the ocean.  They walked down a boho floral aisle where there were pictures of the two of them together on their trips to California, Las Vegas, etc. After reminiscing on all of the photos and memories, Lauren walked her up to the circular arch and showed her the sign sign that said, “I want to travel the world with you forever.”  Lauren dropped to her knee and proposed.  Stephanie of course said yes!!

Post Proposal

Once the proposal was over, the couple spent some time taking portraits with the gorgeous setup.  Then they headed over to the beach to take some more photos of their moment of bliss. Then, Lauren revealed another surprise.  She had a romantic dinner on the beach all ready for them to enjoy as a way to celebrate!

How to Propose

If you are wondering how to propose in Key West, or any other city in the world, there are some key things you need to remember.

  • Create a budget– So many people have a budget for the ring but forget they need a way to propose with it.  Make sure you have a budget in mind for the marriage proposal itself which would cover things like a venue, decorations, flowers, photographer, videographer, and/or a Proposal Planner.
  • Keep it personal– You are going to want to come up with an amazing proposal idea that isn’t just like anyone else’s.  How do you do that?  By personalizing it!  Add things to the proposal that make it stand out and make it speak to your personal relationship.
  • Plan it– Once you have the best proposal idea, you are going to want to plan out every detail. I recommend using Excel or Asana or some system that will allow you to make a to-do list and track progress.  If this sounds overwhelming, consider hiring a Proposal Planner to take all of that stress off of you.  An experienced Proposal Planning Company like The Heart Bandits will know just what to do to make sure your proposal is perfectly planned.  All you will have to do is show up and propose.
  • Document it– If you listen to nothing else I have said in this blog, document your proposal.  The first question your partner will be asked once they announce their engagement is, “How did you get proposed to?”  And a picture is worth a thousand words.  If you have the budget for it, hire a proposal photographer. If you don’t, ask a friend or someone that is at the venue to snap some shots of the proposal setup and your proposal.  Your partner will thank  you for it.
