Let’s face it. Planning a marriage proposal is not something that comes naturally to a lot of guys. And neither does getting inside your girlfriend’s head and making sure you plan the proposal the way she would want it. Every woman is not the same, but there are a few things that most women do care about when it comes to their marriage proposal. So if you are about to propose and looking for proposal ideas for her, this is your guide.
Show You’ve Been Listening
Years ago, a guy could get away with not giving his partner the proposal of her dreams because quite frankly, he didn’t really know what she wanted. But thanks to social media, there are a million and one ways to tell your partner what you’d like to see in your marriage proposal. If your partner has dropped hints about how she wants you to propose, you MUST incorporate that into your proposal idea.
I can tell you now that if your partner has sent you her Pinterest proposal ideas page or tagged you in some IG posts from Proposal Planners and you don’t incorporate some of what she is telling you, you are going to be in trouble. And if she has outright told you some things she would like or not like, that’s even more important. It’s not just about getting the moment right, it’s about showing her that you have been listening to what she has been telling you. And women love a man that listens!
Pretty Stuff
Of course there are always exceptions, but I guarantee you that most women love pretty stuff. And they want to see it in their marriage proposal. This can be gorgeous florals, ornate picture frames, lace aisle runners, and more. Instagram and Pinterest are great resources to look for pretty proposal decorations. Details Matter
Now a caveat to my last tip. You can have all the pretty stuff in the world in one room, but if there are no details, it won’t hit. And why is that? Because ladies LOVE details. We want to see little details in the proposal that shows us that the proposal idea was meant just for us. Maybe it is your initials spelled out in rose petals. Or perhaps a photo of a selfie of you out on your first date. Maybe there is a sign displayed with a phrase that only you two understand. Just make sure to include things that show her that you put a lot of thought into it and your proposal idea will be a winner.
Be Original
This point hits home for me. Being the foremost Proposal Planner in the world, we receive over 500 inquiries a month from guys looking to propose to their girlfriends. And a lot of them send us photos of proposals that other people have planned for their girlfriends with a note saying, “How much to copy this proposal?” I always want to ask, “Why copy that proposal? Why not create a custom proposal idea for your partner so that when she looks at it, she thinks, ‘Wow, this was made for me.'” My advice is that if you see a proposal idea you love on social media, keep that as inspiration. Then, find a way to tweak it and change it so that it is unique to your relationship versus a replica of another proposal floating around on the internet. Besides, do you think your girlfriend would rather have a unique proposal? Or would she want to be scrolling on IG one day and see her exact same proposal pictures but with another couple in it?
Take Photos
In my experience as a Proposal Planner, I can comfortably say that 95% of women or more want their proposal photographed. If your partner is into social media at all, this is a must. But even if she is not into social media, she will likely want those as a memory. Ironically enough, I started this whole Proposal Planning business because I was so sad that no one took photos of my marriage proposal. Back when I got engaged, social media wasn’t huge and I didn’t want the photos so that I could show off the proposal. It’s just that at that moment, that was the most important day of my life and I didn’t have any photos of it. And it made me sad.
