Before we get into some proposal tips for you, we want to share some exciting news with you! We were recently interviewed and featured for a post on Blue Nile! The post is on How to Plan a Romantic Wedding Proposal During the Pandemic and it has some great advice for those of you wondering about what you can do with your partner during the COVID pandemic. Check it out!
For today’s post, we want to give you some great tips if you and your beau are the outdoorsy type. If you are, then there is no better place to propose than in the great outdoors. Mother nature has provided all the beauty, majesty, and grandeur you could ever imagine for creating your wonderful proposal. Here are some ideas on how to incorporate your love of nature into your proposal idea plans.
Take a Hike at a Park, Mountain, or Beach
This is probably one of the easiest ways to be one with nature. You can’t truly enjoy nature without being right in the middle of it. Even these days during the pandemic, getting away to nature is so perfect because you can avoid crowds and still be able to create a special memory with your partner.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be a far trek either. You can choose a park or beach nearby and take your partner there. Just have a plan set beforehand on a special spot in the space that you would want to do your proposal.
Extra Tip
An inside tip for you from the Proposal Planners at The Heart Bandits is to use Google Maps to plan out your exact proposal location. Many times during our planning, we have had to figure out good locations for our clients. If it’s a location we have never personally been to then we would need to research as is we were physically there. Using Google Maps 3D Satellite and Street Views, we are able to pinpoint exact spots that have great views and pre-determine the walking path to get to the perfect proposal location.
A Hidden Surprise
So once you have the perfect proposal location picked out, next it’s time to figure out the setup you will have there. If you will be doing the proposal yourself, then it’s going to be best to have the proposal as simple as possible. This way, you can probably carry all the items in a backpack.
Some good simple options for this are a blanket, single flower, your partner’s favorite drink or snack, and a small speaker to play “your” song as you pop the question at the location with the best view.
If you are able to get some help like a friend or The Heart Bandits, then you would be able to make the proposal a little more elaborate. You can add items like personal touches like framed photos, personal messages, flowers, and maybe even a musician that is willing to take the hike to be up there. Of course don’t forget the photographer to capture the moment!
Use Props Like a Boat or Canoe
If you are not going to use setup at the end of a hike, then consider using another element like a boat or canoe on a lake. If you do something like this then you may not even need to have any other setup because you would already be doing a lot of work to get on the water. When you get to the perfect location on the water, then tell your partner your feelings and pop the question.
Consider Lighting for Sunset or After
This would be slightly harder to pull off but if you can, it would make the scene incredibly magical. Add something that is traditionally out of place in nature such as string lighting or fairy lights. Many of these types of lights are sold as battery powered so you would be able to do it yourself or have a friend set it up beforehand. Wrap the lighting around some trees or hanging from branches to give your proposal spot that magical fairytale feeling that your partner will always remember.
To get extra bonus points, you can do this during sunset AND have a timer or switch nearby to have the lights all go on at your command…. BOSS!
