Top 21 New York Proposal Stories

will you marry me

Over the last 11 years, we have planned hundreds of NYC proposal ideas. NYC has so many places to propose, the possibilities are endless. You could propose with the Empire State Building as your backdrop.  Or you could pop the question in one of the parks like Central Park or Brooklyn Bridge Park.  And if a Times Square and Top of the Rock proposal isn’t right for you, there are a lot of rooftops and other beautiful venues.  Today, we highlight some of our favorite New York proposal stories so that you can use these stories as inspiration to plan your own marriage proposal idea.

Ashley & Richard

The photo above shows the proposal story of Ashley & Richard.  The two were a jet setting couple that traveled the world together.  For his proposal, he knew he wanted to have breathtaking views of the city while also having a beautiful setup.   We found him exactly that by renting out a private terrace with striking views of the city and a gorgeous backdrop with flowers, candles, and rose petals.  It was a picture perfect proposal for them!

Veena & Bryan

Proposal

Bryan and Veena met through their church diocese.  They were in a long distance relationship and one thing that kept their bond strong was their ties to the church.  For his proposal, Bryan wanted to bring that religious aspect out with signs along an aisle runner that depicted verses from the Bible that had meaningful messages relevant to their relationship.  At the focal point, we set up a gorgeous floral arch in front of the dramatic NYC skyline. A musician playing “Unfailing love” by Jimmy Needham which perfectly complemented this romantic proposal idea.

Abigail & Emmanuel

Proposal

Emmanuel and Abigail had grown up together since they were young. Eventually they started dating and quickly realized they had something special.  For his proposal he really wanted her to know that she is not just someone the he wanted to live with, but someone that he couldn’t live without. He also didn’t want to move into 2021 without her and hence did his proposal closer to the end of the year.  For the venue, he wanted to make sure it was a comfortable temperature so we booked him an indoor glass ceiling venue and created a gorgeous setup with large MARRY ME letters, aisle runner, candles in votives, and rose petals.

Parth & Sonal

Proposal

For Parth, he already knew he wanted a stunning aisle of colorful florals leading up to the place he would propose. But he needed help finding the perfect venue, photographer, and coordinating his perfect proposal. We found him the perfect proposal location with views of the Hudson, the skyline, and a gorgeous rooftop for photos after. Sonal was completely smitten with her marriage proposal and we are honored to have been a part of it.

Marcella & Bryan

Proposal ideas

Bryan is a busy executive who wanted to give his Colombian girlfriend Marcella a dream marriage proposal that really fit her personality. When we interviewed him about Marcella we found out that she loves her culture, nice things, and white flowers.  We combined those loves to create the perfect proposal idea for her. When she arrived, Bryan walked her down an aisle of rose petals as musicians played Marcella’s favorite Colombian songs.  He always calls her, “Mi Amor” which translates to “My Love” in English which was the inspiration behind the 6 foot floral sculpture.  As he approached the beautiful words, he dropped to say some of his own beautiful words…in Spanish!  Marcella was blown away.  You can read more about the proposal and see the video here.

Meera & Neal

Proposal

I absolutely love music so when Neal told me that their special song was “Sky Full Of Stars,” by Coldplay, I immediately thought that would be a great theme for the proposal. Neal agreed! On the proposal night, Neal and Meera walked out onto a rooftop overlooking the skyline and musicians played that special song. He walked her down an aisle of white petals and candles to a sign that said, “Will You Say Yes Under A Sky Full Of Stars?” Next to the sign was a stunning arrangement of florals serving as the perfect proposal backdrop. Neal dropped to his knee and proposed. Meera said YES!

Honey & AB

Proposal ideas

This proposal was one for the books. AB (a twin from Saudi Arabia) was visiting NYC and wanted to plan an over-the-top proposal/ birthday party/engagement party for his beloved Honey. He spared no expense to make sure Honey had a once in a lifetime moment. From a stunning venue with floor to ceiling windows with spectacular views of the Hudson River, handmade cherry blossom trees, florals and petals around the room, an ice sculpture, and a fully catered meal with full bar for his friends and family after, this high-end proposal was truly one of a kind.  Read more about this proposal and watch the video here.

Diane + Suril

Proposal

When Suril had to move to Tennessee after a few months of dating, he and Diane had to work really hard to maintain their long-distance relationship. Being long distance made it difficult for Suril to do traditional gestures like buying flowers, so when we presented the proposal idea of having a flower vendor pretending to be operating a flower cart for his proposal, he loved the idea. On their proposal day, they came across a flower cart vendor that we organized with purple tulips, white roses, and yellow sunflowers–all of Diane’s favorites! Suril went to buy a bouquet from the flower cart vendor and Diane was in shock when the vendor turned to her and said, “Actually Diane, this whole flower cart is for you.” Suril got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. This was the perfect sunset proposal.  Read more about this romantic day here.

S & A

Proposal ideas

“A” (name withheld due to privacy request) knew he wanted to propose in front of family in a beautiful setting but one thing is that he didn’t want his girlfriend to know that family was actually there until after the proposal.  We helped “A” pull off the perfect proposal!  We rented a private venue space that actually had a loft where we had the family waiting and were able to watch the entire event from above.  On the day-of, “A” brought his girlfriend to the space where she found a beautiful setup of flowers, rose petals, and their initials. The space also had striking views of New York City. He proposed and and to his girlfriend’s amazement, her family popped out after watching the entire event. She was overjoyed to have been proposed to and to have her family there to celebrate.

Pete and Dily

Proposal

Pete and Dily were visiting NYC from Australia and he wanted to give her a proposal that she would never forget. Dily absolutely loved tulips so we came up with the idea to create a tulip garden on a rooftop overlooking the city. She walked down a silk green aisle runner that represents the grass in the garden. The tulips were hand planted in moss to make them appear as they were growing out of the ground. Dily was completely blown away and after the proposal, the two sat at their romantic table for two and had a private dinner.

Ashley & Jason

Proposal

Jason and Ashely met through church and while living in NYC, he wanted to do something they would “typically” do.  He had Ashley brought over to an art gallery by a friend. The gallery was filled with “random” people.  When she arrived, Jason arranged for a song to come on the speaker system. Once the song was over, one of Ashley’s friends told her to walk to another room. In that room, Jason surprised her and revealed the gorgeous setup that we created which consisted of LED balloons, lanterns with fairy lights,  and canvases on the wall that contained photos of their relationship. When he showed her the last canvas covered with a black fabric, a guitarist started playing and Jason started singing by himself. Once the chorus approached, the”random” people turned out to be an a cappella group and joined in on the singing. They assembled behind Jason and they all sung the chorus together and Jason proposed.

Coco & Kevin

Proposal

Kevin had a venue in mind when he hired us, but he needed help creating the perfect proposal idea. He wanted a backdrop that wouldn’t block the view or the pool so we came up with a ring backdrop that displayed a “Will You Marry Me?” message. Along the aisle were gorgeous gold, modern stands with pink and white florals encased. It was truly stunning and Coco was in love with her marriage proposal.

Jacqueline & Peter

Proposal ideas

Like many of our clients, Peter had already seen some beautiful proposal ideas on our website but he wanted to tweak them to make them perfect for Jacqueline.  We brought in our favorite designer to create this shade of purples floral masterpiece for this perfect New York City proposal.

Cara & Josh

Proposal ideas

Since Josh was planning a NYC winter proposal, he really wanted there to be snow. But when it looked unlikely that there would be a snow storm in time for the big day, we brought the snow to New York. On the day of their engagement, they walked inside a gorgeous penthouse that was decorated with candles, faux snow, and gorgeous white orchids on winterized trees. Cara loved her winter proposal idea and enjoyed celebrating with Champagne and soft music from the live musician.

Luisa & Manuel

Proposal

Manuel absolutely loved Pete & Dili’s proposal but wanted to put his own spin on things. We created an aisle of Luisa’s favorite red and pink florals and had Manuel waiting for her arrival. When she saw him standing there in his field of flowers, she couldn’t have been more excited. He proposed and she said yes!

Kristi & Mark

Proposal

This will always be one of my favorite proposals because it was so lovely and because Mark was such a nice and genuine person. He wanted to propose to Kristi with Manolo Blahnik’s and needed help finding the perfect venue, proposal idea, and help planning his after party. He started the day off by taking Kristi shopping for a new dress for a “work function.” We had hidden cameras in the store. That evening, she got ready to go to the “work function” but instead got the surprise of a lifetime. She walked out on to this stunning rooftop and passed a large screen displaying a video montage of their relationship. They walked down to the pool where there was a string quartet playing romantic music. There were orchids towering over her and between the orchids was a giant gift box. Mark asked her to lift the box and under it were gorgeous Manolo Blahnik shoes. He proposed and presented her the engagement ring. Friends came out to celebrate and enjoy a catered meal on the rooftop above the city.

Simone & Stephan

Proposal

It’s rare that a client comes to us and already has a theme in mind, but Stephen did. His theme was “Music To My Ears” and he needed help finding private space for the proposal, lyrics from their favorite songs, rose petals, candles, and framed photos. We found the perfect proposal location for him and decorated it romantically, displaying those special songs to create his perfect proposal moment.

Patricia & Manuel

Proposal ideas

We absolutely loved bringing Paris to New York with this Paris themed proposal. We had our partner’s create a large Eiffel Tower made of moss and florals. We brought in faux grass walls and made a little Parisian cafe. An accordion player played as the couple walked down the aisle. Manuel proposed right in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Sarika & Daniel

Proposal ideas

Daniel had a proposal idea in mind, he just needed help executing the proposal and engagement party after. He wanted to propose on a rooftop overlooking the city while his friends and family held letters that spelled out “Marry Me.” We brought his vision to life and also brought in a photographer and videographer. For the engagement party, we brought in decor and a photographer to capture the special moment. Sarika was thrilled!

Fernanda & Christian

Proposal

This is one of the more elaborate proposals we have planned. We brought in a full orchestra, had our partner’s create a gazebo with flowers spilling out (to symbolize their travels to Italy), had Louis Vuitton luggage stacked up and on top there were gifts, and at the bottom of the pool a monogram read, “Fernanda, Will You Travel The World With Me Forever?” They enjoyed a private dinner for 2 on the beautiful rooftop garden after Fernanda said yes.  Read all about this epic proposal here.

Robert & Patricia

Proposal

Robert wanted to have the huge Marry Me letters (before it was such a huge trend) and he wanted them displayed on a rooftop with a gorgeous view. We rented out the perfect location and then brought in stunning florals to compliment the sign and really take it to the next level. Patricia was ecstatic about her marriage proposal and said yes.
