Why You MUST Be On Time For Your Proposal

It’s proposal day… Yay! You have made so many plans, invested money into this day, and have your dreams set on something absolutely amazing happening today! Everything is going to be perfect unless… You’re not on time.

Timing is everything for any big event, but ESPECIALLY for a marriage proposalWhen you have spent so much time planning and preparing, everything is going to be running on a schedule. Let’s say you hired a proposal planner and he/she has everything lined up for you.  You have musicians, a photographer, bubbly, family and friends waiting to surprise you all… everything is planned to a T and all you need to do is show up and propose.

Well, don’t be way too early. And definitely don’t be late. Both situations could absolutely ruin your big day. Let us tell you why!  Let’s start with why being early could ruin your proposal.

If You Arrive Too Early, Your Vendors May Not be Set Up Yet.

You are going to have Marry Me lights displayed and bubbly poured. If you arrive too early, you may not see the final result you paid for. The vendors will need time to pour those glasses and you might walk out to find only the word “Marry” set up.  This is going to ruin your proposal and the wow factor.

Another example, let’s say you’ve arranged to have a quartet playing some lovely string instruments as soon as you and your partner set foot in the venue.  If you arrive too early, they may not be set up yet and ready to play.

If you have vendors that need to set up, give them the time they requested and need. You are paying them to wow you with their services. Don’t walk in early and ruin the surprise!

On the flip side, arriving late could also impact so much.

If You Arrive Late, You Will Miss Out On Your Vendor’s Services

If you paid a vendor for 2 hours, from 4-6pm, they begin counting their time at 4pm, not when you arrive. So if you arrive at 5, you will have missed out on an hour of the time you paid them.  It is never a good idea to assume that they can stay later, even if you offer to pay them. Some vendors have events booked back to back and need to leave your event on time in order to make it to their next.

If you’re late and your vendor IS able to stay, you will definitely have to pay them for their time. So now you’ve paid for 2 hours that you weren’t even there for, and will have to pay more. Being late could directly equate to a more expensive event due to the fees!

Being Late Could Cause You To Miss Golden Hour or Weather Changes

If your proposal is supposed to be followed up with photos at golden hour, it is crucial to have a good timeline.  If you are late to your proposal, you may end up not making it out for engagement pictures in time for golden hour.  That leads to using a camera’s flash for your photos and although it is better than nothing- flash photos do not even come close to natural light photos. You DEFINITELY do not want to be late and miss the best time of day for pictures.

Another problem is that the weather could change. If you planned a proposal for 4-6pm and it says sunny clear skies, follow through and do it at that time!  You don’t want to risk being late and running into 7pm rain showers. It could ruin absolutely everything!

If You Arrive Late, Your Partner May End Up Annoyed

This is a long awaited day for both of you, but if you’re surprising your partner, chances are they’ve thought about this day forever!  They want it to be absolutely perfect and hope that nothing would ruin it. If you’re late or things don’t go the way they built it up in their minds to be, they may end up annoyed with you.  Being late could also lead to you and/or your partner being extra stressed about the whole event. That takes away from the fun of the day.  And if you guys are stressed, the memories just won’t be the same. It will change the vibe and you guys just won’t enjoy it the way you intended.  And sometimes…eek…that tension shows in photos. It’s a huge day for you both.
